At
Shorebank we provide business financing throughout the city
of Cleveland but we focus our residential lending acitvities
on Cleveland's upper east side in the Buckeye-Shaker, Fairfax,
Forest Hills, Glenville, Hough, St. Clair-Superior, South
Collinwood, and University neighborhoods. Together, our eight
"Priority Neighborhoods" are home to over 120,000 Clevelanders.
The
poverty rate in our neighborhoods averages 42 percent, compared
with less than 13 percent in the region. The average per capita
annual income in our neighborhoods is $8,258, compared with
$17,128 regionally. Only a third of the residents in our neighborhoods
own their homes, compared with almost two-thirds in the region.
The median housing value in our neighborhoods is $45,000 compared
with $116,000 regionally. Fifteen percent of the workers in
our neighborhoods are unemployed, compared with 4.5 percent
in the region.
